At DermatologistOnCall®, we are committed to the highest standards of care for our patients who come to us for online dermatology help. Our company and service was founded by practicing board-certified dermatologist, Mark P. Seraly, MD, who sees over 12,000 in-office patients and over 1,000 online patients each year. Today, we have more than 250 dermatologists in the U.S. who are seeing patients through our online and mobile apps.
Here are a few things to know about our teledermatology service and our dermatologists:
Your diagnosis and treatment plan will only be approved by a U.S.-based board-certified dermatologist.
To become a board-certified dermatologist in the U.S., one must go through many years of education, residencies, and certifications. All of our dermatologists have passed the exams given by the American Board of Dermatology or the American Osteopathic Association. And, all of our dermatologists live in the U.S. and only see patients in states for which they are licensed to treat.
All of our dermatologists are trained in diagnosing and treating the nearly 3,000 diseases and conditions of the skin, hair, and nails.
Our online patients come to us for help with conditions ranging from acne to melanoma spot-checks. Click here to view more details about some of the more common the conditions we treat.
Dermatologists are trained to diagnose based on images.
For dermatologists, looking at digital photos uploaded by online patients mimics what they’ve already experienced during their education and training to become a dermatologist. Knowing how to analyze and diagnose conditions based on images is very familiar to them, which makes online dermatology such a natural extension of their practice. Of course, not every single medical case is suited for online dermatology; for example, annual full body examinations and certain procedures should be handled through in-office visits. However, thousands of skin, hair, and nail medical conditions can be diagnosed through the online visit format. And our online patients agree: consistently, 98% of them say they’d recommend the service to someone else.
Your online dermatology visit will mimic what occurs during a typical, non-procedural in-office visit.
Ours is a real medical visit. Our network of online dermatologists will review the medical history you submit, in addition to your description and photos regarding your current condition. Some states also require a video call with the online doctor. If e-prescriptions are allowed in your state, the doctor will send any recommended prescription orders to your preferred pharmacy for pick up. You will receive a detailed treatment plan online, stored in your patient account for future reference and can have a copy of your diagnosis and treatment plan faxed to your primary care physician. And if you still have a follow-up question, you can send the doctor a message for up to 30 days. An online visit with our dermatologists is comprehensive, diagnostic, and customized to your needs.
DermatologistOnCall means security and compliance.
Our platform provides patients and dermatologists with a secure, HIPAA and HITECH-compliant website and mobile apps. This ensures standards of information security and privacy are met.
We were created by a practicing dermatologist.
Mark P. Seraly, MD, founder and Chief Medical Officer for Iagnosis, Inc. (the company behind DermatologistOnCall), is a highly respected, board-certified dermatologist with a practice in McMurray, PA. As a working professional and a father of four, Dr. Seraly has a true understanding of his patients’ busy lifestyles. After more than 20 years of treating thousands of patients in his office, he recognized a need for a better and more convenient way to provide service: “I was at my child’s soccer game several years ago when in less than an hour I received nine phone calls from patients. I was talking to them, calling in prescriptions and giving medical advice over the phone.” This solidified his idea for DermatologistOnCall to give patients a better option for accessing dermatologic care any time of day, any day of the week, from any device. Today, Dr. Seraly sees over 12,000 in-office patients and over 1,000 online patients annually. He serves as the vice chair of the Teledermatology special interest group of the American Telemedicine Association (ATA) and is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology’s (AAD) Telemedicine Task Force.
