National healthy skin month – your checklist for healthy skin

In case you missed the memo, November is National Healthy Skin Month. Now, we realize there are probably several things that dermatologists tell you to do that are easy to forget about, or quite honestly, you just may not think are that important. So we thought National Healthy Skin Month is the perfect time to look at the routine maintenance you should be doing, but probably aren't, and actually do them.

Here is your healthy skin checklist!

  1. CHANGE LOOFAHS
Dermatologists recommend changing loofahs every 3-4 weeks because it easily grows bacteria in its crevices.
  2. CHANGE RAZORS
When it feels like the blade is tugging or pulling skin instead of gliding, it is time to change your razor. Usually this is between 5-10 shaves.
  3. CHANGE MAKEUP
Doctors agree changing makeup depends on the type. Products worn near the eye have the shortest shelf life. Brushes should be washed about once a month.
  4. CHECK SKIN
You should perform a self-exam of your skin for moles at least once a year. Dermatologists suggest tracking new moles or changes to share at your annual appointment.
